- Description: "एक सहज और स्वाभाविक प्रश्न है, क्या मनुष्य अमर हो सकता है? इसका जवाब इतना आसान नहीं है, क्योंकि आज भी मनुष्य उन सीमाओं के पार नहीं पहुँच सका है, जो उसे अमर बना दें। हाँ, कभी-कभी कुछ विशेष व्यक्तियों के लिए प्रकृति ने अपने नियम जरूर बदले हैं। ऐसे ही विशेष महामानव हैं-सात चिरंजीवी। ये सात चिरंजीवी इसलिए कहलाए, क्योंकि सातों जीवन-मृत्यु के चक्र से ऊपर उठकर अमर हो गए। इन सात चिरंजीवियों में परशुराम, बलि, विभीषण, हनुमान, महर्षि वेदव्यास, कृपाचार्य और अश्वत्थामा हैं। इन चिरंजीवियों में से कुछ के बारे में गलत धारणाएँ भी प्रचलित हैं, जैसे परशुराम का नाम सुनते ही हमारी आँखों के सामने एक ऐसे ऋषि की तसवीर उभरती है, जो बेहद क्रोधी स्वभाव के हैं। लेकिन उन्होंने अत्याचारी और अन्यायी राजाओं के खिलाफ ही शत्र उठाए। एक आदर्शवादी और न्यायप्रिय राजा के रूप में राम से मिलने के पश्चात् वे महेंद्र गिरि पर्वत पर तपस्या करने चले गए। परशुराम भगवान् विष्णु के अंशावतार माने जाते हैं। आज्ञाकारी पुत्र के रूप में वे अद्भुत हैं। "
